About Me
Dr. Solly E. Elmann is a board certified Ophthalmologist with a subspecialty in medical and surgical retinal disease. His research interests include therapeutics in the treatment of retina disease, laser photocoagulation therapy, and diabetic retinal disease. He has presented his findings nationally and internationally, and has authored numerous abstracts, papers, and publications. Dr. Elmann earned his medical degree with the accelerated BA-MD program at SUNY Downstate, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha society. He continued with a residency in Ophthalmology at SUNY, where he was elected Chief Resident and received the EC Lazzaro Excellence in Teaching Award. He then completed a fellowship in retina surgery under the mentorship of the renowned retina specialist and innovative surgeon Bert M. Glaser at the National Retina Institute. He was also awarded the Endowed Honor Award, and inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Elmann is an assistant professor at St. John's ophthalmology residency program. Dr. Elmann is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the LIGHT Laser society, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology; he is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Elmann enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He speaks Spanish, Hebrew, and Arabic.
